Molokai General Hospital is looking for an Internist to work Full-Time in our Paul G. Stevens Outpatient Clinic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic care to the patients of the MGH clinics. Molokai General Hospital (MGH) is a 15-bed rural health care facility with a Critical Access Hospital designation. It provides the only emergency room for the residents and visitors on the island of Molokai. MGH became a part of The Queen’s Health Systems in 1987 and provides acute care, inpatient hospice, skilled nursing, and low-risk obstetrical services. It also offers primary care in a rural health clinic, chemotherapy, limited specialty procedures, diabetes management, family planning, physical therapy (including aquatic therapy), veteran’s services and chronic disease navigation services.Are you looking for an enriched cultural experience? JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible to the President of Molokai General Hospital (MGH) and collaborates with the Medical Director of Clinical Affairs and External Affairs. • Provides family medicine services for patients of the Paul G. Stevens, M.D. Outpatient Clinic (“clinic”), through direct patient care and at the discretion of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, through teaching and supervision of students and residents from the John A. Burns School of Medicine and assigned residents from other programs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLINICAL:
Provides family medicine services including preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic care to MGH clinic patients.
Refers patients to and receives patients from appropriate community agencies and resources.
Completes correspondence and documentation on patients as required.
Promotes and participates in patient education and rehabilitation.
Covers other clinic physicians as needed.
Is available to see walk-in, over flow, and ED/hospital follow-up patients as well as scheduled family medicine patients.
Maintains after-hours availability by phone based on the posted on-call schedule for the primary care physicians in the MGH clinics.
Performs inpatient admissions and discharges for assigned patients requiring observation, acute, or skilled nursing levels of medical services at MGH.
Complies with organization policies and procedures, regulatory agencies and institutional and operating systems, including Corporate Compliance policies and code of conduct.
Protects patient/customer confidentiality.
Complies with HIPAA regulations as they apply to job.
Participates effectively as a team member in assigned area to achieve team goals and objectives.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patient and family, team members, physicians and other staff.
Develops and maintains technical and other job related competencies.
Observes all safety and health regulations; ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and accrediting agencies; and, performs work in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of organization, including attendance, punctuality and dress standards.
Charge tags and documentation all done timely, accurately, legibly and in compliance with MGH guidelines, CMS regulations, and PATH rules.
Performs other related duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Essential: Seeing, hearing, speaking, finger dexterity, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.
Frequent: Standing, walking, sitting, stooping/bending, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
Occasional: Twisting body, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, pushing/pulling.
Operates a variety of medical equipment, computer, and telephone.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or ECFMG certification.
• Board Certified or board qualified in Family Medicine.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• During period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the MGH medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction. 
• One year post residency experience preferred.
• Experience in a community health center environment preferred.
Base salary begins at $265,879.00/year with opportunity for quality incentives.
